  • As a rail vehicle analyzer at TTC streetcar house (service and maintenance department), our major responsibilities are to do preventive maintenance and periodic inspections of streetcar, driving, performing yard defects, testing and ensuring its safe and reliable daily operation for service.
  • Inspection and maintenance of pole and harp assembly, switching power from pole to pantograph, ensuring all the sand and washer fluids are full and the consumables are within the specific range and replacing them if necessary.
  • Pre-servicing the streetcars for morning run-out service and ensuring operation of all the safety critical hardware, like, secured bogie skirts, emergency windows, windscreens, doors and sensors, bell, gong and horn are functioning, wheel flange lubrication system, sanding system, disk brake, track brakes and electro-dynamic braking mechanism, emergency stop pushbutton, master controllers functionality, track lights, headlights, indicators, reverse lights, pictograms, interior lighting, pole-catcher mechanism, exterior and interior cameras, stop request switches, passenger emergency strips, internal and external speakers, passenger assist system, EAD (Emergency Access Device) and EED (Emergency Exit Device) functionality, ensuring everything works accordingly and troubleshooting problems whenever necessary.
  • Ensuring corrective operations of onboard computer; Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) that governs all the traction motors, traction convertors, dynamic braking system, disk brakes and track brakes, onboard power supply and its conversion, internal communication system, ramp and door mechanism, primary and secondary vigilance systems, rollback protection system, operator cabin and passenger HVAC and heating system, and much more. VCU also registers and records data like speed, battery and brake resistors temperature, heating faults, wheel flange lubrication fault, door sensors and operations, etc which can we retrieved later for study and analysis.
  • Driving streetcar both inside and outside the yard, following all the traffic and street car rules and switching track switches accordingly. Also responsible for attending to the road calls and providing necessary troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Trained to perform all the periodic inspections from PD0 to PD6 which includes inspection of car body, interior fittings, truck skirt inspection, crash absorber, articulations and bellows, foldable coupler, mounts, bushings, sanders system, battery box, wheel flange lubrication system, truck inspections, traction motors, brake control unit (BCU), Hydraulic Power Unit, gear box, primary and secondary, accumulator, spring applied brake calipers, magnetic track brakes, doors and ramps, air filters, pantograph, trolley pole catcher, Necessity Action Switch (NAS) control unit, exterior lifting points.

  • Like to trek, love photography and video making. A good picture has a lot to say for those who have the eyes to see it. Editing software's used my me are Picasa, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop_2018. Have made and posted couple of videos on Facebook and YouTube on nature and wildlife. Also have an account on GuruShots (Champion- Level), where people submit their pictures for competitions, challenges and rewards worldwide.
