Major Projects
- Designing of an Energy Storage System for a Solar-Wind micro-grid System: A system was designed to integrate Distributed Energy Resources(Wind and Solar) with the existing grid. Based on a 24 hour load-demand curve, a DC-DC converter along with a battery energy storage system(BESS) was designed using MATLAB-Simulink,to integrate power from the renewable energy to the main grid during peak hours and store in the BESS during off peak hours. Results were compared against the already existing conventional systems to recognize the advantage of selected energy management system.
- Issues in Integrating Distributed Generation to the Distribution Grids : The system model was prepared in MATLAB-Simulink and consisted of a synchronous generator followed by a series of generators connected to load. Multiple protection schemes were simulated and a detailed 3-phase fault analysis was conducted at different locations of the system to observe the operation of designed protection system. The results helped in understanding various issues in integrating distributed generation sources to the existing grid.
- Pilot Project - Bagasse Energy Generation : Worked on a pilot project designed to power a sugarcane plant with the energy generated from the byproducts of sugarcane such as, bagasse and molasses. Worked with the engineering team to design a waste processing unit, sizeable generator, cooling system, transformer and distribution panel to meet with the adequate load of the operating plant.
