• Provide leadership in the establishment; achieve the residence’s goals and objectives; and manage human, financial and physical resources for the various departments of the residence
• Select and develop employees; provide an opportunity for growth and development; create an environment that will increase knowledge and skills among all employees
• Liaise and consult with residents, families and the community in order to maintain a good public image for the residence
• Participate in the budgeting process and manage the operation of the facility within budget while overseeing the accounting operations for the residence.

• Leads the nursing team in all aspects providing for Person Centered Care for our residents
• Manages all aspects of human resources relating to the Nursing Department
• Demonstrates sound knowledge of the resident bill of rights and monitors to ensure rights of residents are always respected and promoted
• Contribute to the development of policies and procedures consistent with resident care practices, CNO, LTCHA and Regulation and other applicable legislation
• Manages all financial matters associated with the nursing department; budgeting, resource allocation, purchasing, staffing etc
• Reviews trends quality improvement activities and take lead in changing practices, introducing new policies, program, and services based on the identified trends and analysis
• Takes Leadership for all aspects of the nursing department
• Is accountable and responsible for all aspects of services delivered by the nursing department
• Effectively communicates with staff at all levels, residents, families, other departments and external stakeholders ensuring an interdisciplinary focus for the care and services provided

• Assists the DOC in the implementation and evaluation of the nursing department quality improvement initiatives, risk management systems, data collection and analysis, report writing, procedural updates
• Takes the lead in the coordination and implementation of best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident care (i.e
• Falls, restraint use, wound management, Infection Control)
• Effectively manages utilization of nursing supplies
• Maintains a system of care assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation at the resident and unit program level that maximizes staff resources and contributes to West Park LTC interdisciplinary team approach to resident care
• Effectively supports the RAI-MDS program
• Maintains an active presence in the units mentoring staff while overseeing the provision of quality resident care
• Initiates investigative and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety; develops and monitors modified work programs for nursing personnel
• Works collaboratively with the Director of Care on special projects, reviews, and other duties as may be assigned
• Assumes responsibility for the nursing department in the Director of Care’s absence.

• Ensures that Resident Care Services, including annual goals and objectives for the Nursing Department, align with the organization’s vision, mission, and values

• Plans, coordinates, directs, and monitors the effectiveness of all operational activities within the nursing department
