Objective:

To meaningfully support the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation with project and financial management, coordination of communications and stakeholder engagement, and oversight of administration as they implement their Salmon Parks IPCA. Ultimately, I hope to support Nuu-chah-nulth Nations’ visions of care for ḥaaḥuułi in ways that uphold the sacred principles of hisukʔis cawaak, ʔiisaak, and ʔuuʔaaluk, and which set the precedent for all peoples in ḥaaḥuułi to honor these deep-rooted relationships and responsibilities.

Community Consultant

  • Community Consultant currently providing Project Management support for the administration and operations of the Nuu-chah-nulth Youth Warrior Family Society (NYWF), an Indigenous youth-led non-profit organization.
  • Lead in developing project proposals and funding applications, having secured multiple grants with project timelines of up to 2 years, and budgets ranging from $20,000 to over $225,000.
  • Lead the creation and continued use of grant trackers, project folders, financial back-ups, individual and team task lists, invoice templates, budget sheets, participant and partner data tracking forms, service agreements, employment contracts, job descriptions, liability waivers, and communication materials.
  • Contribute to developing and monitoring strategic plans, work plans, and budgets for various projects that focus on cultural food systems, food sovereignty, and Indigenous-led conservation. Examples include hunting & snorkel harvesting projects, clam gardening, canning & jarring, medicine-making, sustainable cedar harvest & carving, land-based cultural exchanges, community mapping projects, and more.
  • Serving as the Project Lead on several of these funded initiatives, I regularly conduct meetings with project contractors and Knowledge-Keepers to assess progress and address any issues, while ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.

  • Led the national Uncovering Common Ground Program working to support Indigenous youth leaders (between 16-30 years old).
