I received an award as a volunteer parent of the year at my kids school and showed commitment, convictions to the school and students, and significant contribution to the development of French as a first language in education in Alberta.
I received this award by helping in the library twice a week to organize and put away books, making it easier for our students to find them. Last year I also gave a presentation to the fourth graders about racism and the importance of being respectful to everyone we encounter.
I enjoyed interacting with the students. For example, I supervised groups of students playing
basketball on a field that the school staff cannot always cover and ensured that all
participants who wish to play are included and feel welcomed.
