  • Served as a member of the district planning committee to create essential standards for 6th-grade math. On-site, I worked on creating common formative assessments to assess essential standards.
  • Acted as my school's assessment lead, guiding data-informed instructional practices, and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
  • Served as a member of the district math pilot committee to choose new materials to meet the needs of the new Common Core math standards and mathematical practices. Selected to create year-long pacing guides to assist teachers in the implementation of new materials.
  • Collaborated with colleagues to address the shifts in the Common Core. Created long-term and short-term lesson plans that included an emphasis on text-dependent questioning, evidence-based writing and discussion, and informational reading.
  • Received training in the balanced literacy model for ELA. Implemented a reader's workshop model of teaching that included guided leveled reading, literature circles, strategy groups, a leveled library, and mini lessons. Implemented a writer's workshop model that took students through the writing process of collecting, planning, revising, publishing, and celebration. Included shared reading, differentiated word study, and interactive read-aloud in ELA instruction.
  • Collaborated with a team of teachers to compartmentalize in different subjects. Responsible for ELA and Science lessons, emphasized through project-based learning.
  • Created a 'Greek Olympic Unit' that educated students in ancient customs and encouraged teamwork through athletic events. Students annually participated in a multitude of athletic and academic events that encouraged teamwork, character, and historical education.
