i worked the tobacco season every year for 24 years. usually for different farmers until i found a farm where owners treated their workers with respect. Duties included

• pulling and planting young tobacco plants
• replanting any missed plants
• hoeing weeds so plants can thrive
• topped plants when out in flower to stop growth
• removed sucker plants
• stripped the tobacco in the strip room so it looked in uniform by taking out dead leaves or leaves that are too green
