- Essentially, this is an internship with the Sheriff's Office designed to get people interested in law enforcement, and upon the completion of an academy, which I did in 2023 as an honor graduate, to gain hands-on experience with law enforcement. This involves assisting deputies in all situations that pertain to law enforcement, some of which are incredibly high-stress and require heavy discipline. As an explorer, I am there to learn and assist deputies as they complete their duties. As an Explorer Sergeant, I am in charge of the Explorer Program for the City of Poway, ensuring hours are tracked, trainings are completed, and Explorers are maintaining the strict department policies to which we are required to adhere.
