I had no previous experience working in a core shack .Soon the crew took me under their wing and started teaching me.

My first job was to learn how to RQD I would load my work bench with 16 boxes of core than I would take every individual piece of rock and assemble it like a puzzle once the core was all reassembled together that’s when I would

•measure the length

•I would have to find the fraction and infractions

•I would count the infractions and minus that from the total of the length

•after that I would divide by 3

•than I would put my calculation total of the core into the computer.

I also learnt how to sample the core

•I would load my 12 boxes at a time on the work bench .

•than I would take half of the core rock and place into bags that would match the numbers that were written by the geologist and also add a tag I learned all the meanings of the tags and placed all the proper tags in with the proper core sample and into the proper bag with all the matching numbers and than I would write the sample numbers on a sheet of paper

•I would then plac e 10 small sample bags into big rice bags sand carry them across the core shack and place them into a tote until the tote was full.

•I self taught myself to cut core

•I would bring 3 boxes at a time and put them on my table. Than take a hammer to break the core into smaller pieces if they were to long.

•I than would place a piece of the core on the tray and would put the RQD line on the top and push the core through a circular saw in which the core would cut in half to prepare for sampling.

After every job I always cleaned my space and made sure everything was put back into its spot for the next crew.

•I also did a few drill inspection and was being taught that as well .

•also was taught to put the core boxes in the farm.

Along with working the core shack I would also take care of the maintenance problem for example changing light bulbs,fixing showers,in the winter shoveling if the trucks couldn’t make it to plow the yard taking care of the trench so the water from cutting was draining properly.

Another job of mine was to do the housekeeping when the housekeeper would not come in

•laundry washing beds and towels and also co-workers clothing .

•clean showers , toilets, urnals, sink mirrors

•make beds ,wash windows,sweep and was the floors in the bunk houses.

•I would also clean the common room

Wiping down exercise machine ,pool table ,coffee tables ,tv windows was and sweep the floor.

•clean the core shack all the offices wiping the dust off the desk emptied garbages swept and w all the floors for the geologist and would also clean the Nplh drillers office.

.clean the kitchen wiping down table and the fridge glass doors sweeping and mopping and dusting and the bathroom and every few months I would empty the grease trap by hand.

•I also would have to step in for cooking

•I would cook lunch and supper for the camp.

•restock Fridges and drink fridge

•restock shelves and cupboards

•Put groceries orders away

•Prep breakfast and also restock the Cooler making sure the camp had fresh fruit cups and Eggies (breakfast sandwich) also boiled eggs bacon and yoguart.

•I would also have to make a lunch for the nplh foreman.
