Summary

I am a dedicated individual with a passion for a transformative medical career. What captivates me most is the synthesis of medicine’s ameliorative core with a deeply compassionate soul. I believe that science can only go so far without effective communication, which fuels my commitment to translating complex research into accessible knowledge for the public. Women’s health, in particular, has long been underrepresented in research, yet it is central to the well-being of families and communities. These statistics are not mere statistical anomalies, but they reflect a deeper, more insidious issue: systemic gaps in care, awareness, and research priorities. My work has deepened my appreciation for the urgent need to address these disparities, from advancing early diagnostics to improving outcomes in pregnancy-related conditions. Alongside this, I place great emphasis on mentorship, guiding and supporting others as I grow. My journey has been shaped by the help and encouragement of those around me, and I remain deeply committed to carrying that forward.

Work History

Research Assistant

Sinai Health System, Mount Sinai Hospital
05.2025 - Current

At the Caniggia Lab, I conduct research on adverse pregnancy outcomes, including gestational diabetes mellitus and preeclampsia, aiming to improve women’s health. I design and perform experiments with maternal and placental samples, using molecular assays and data analysis to identify biomarkers and pathways. I mentor and train junior students in laboratory techniques and data analysis, and I assist in grant writing and research proposal development to support the lab’s funding and research initiatives. Additionally, I contribute to data interpretation, manuscript preparation, and dissemination of findings to both scientific and clinical audiences.

Pet Grooming Assistant

Comi Pet Grooming
08.2024 - Current

As a pet grooming assistant at Comi Pet Grooming, I collaborated with certified pet groomers, assisting in bathing, pre-clipping, and scissoring procedures while ensuring animal safety and comfort. Beyond hands-on grooming, I led marketing initiatives grounded in evidence-based strategies, analyzing client data to identify trends, optimize promotions, with the goal of improving new customer attraction and client retention. This approach required applying critical thinking and systematic evaluation to measure outcomes and refine strategies. Through this role, I strengthened skills in data driven decision-making, problem-solving, and team collaboration within a real-world business context.

Undergraduate Teaching Assistant

University Of Toronto, Scarborough Campus
09.2022 - 12.2023

I supported professors and students by leading tutorials, facilitating discussions, and clarifying lecture material, with an emphasis on strengthening students’ critical thinking and reasoning skills that translate beyond coursework into problem-solving and communication. I also provided mentorship outside the classroom, offering guidance on study strategies, exam preparation, and pathways to graduate and professional school planning. Notably, I taught upper-year undergraduate physiology courses (D level) during the first semester of my Master’s program, balancing advanced teaching responsibilities with my own studies. Courses taught: BIOC32 Human Physiology I (Fall 2023), BIOD43 Exercise Physiology (Winter 2023), and BIOB34 Animal Physiology (Fall 2022).

Ontario Graduate Scholarship (2024-07)

  • The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) is a prestigious, merit-based award recognizing exceptional academic achievement and supporting advanced graduate research. Recipients are chosen through a highly competitive process, with only a limited number awarded each year. For the 2024–2025 cycle, the University of Toronto received 800 OGS spots from the Government of Ontario, of which the Department of Physiology was allocated 15 awards. These awards were competed for by a pool of 170 graduate students, including 50 MSc and 120 PhD candidates, highlighting the exceptional distinction required to secure an OGS in our department.
