I have spent many years in various customer service jobs, and have thus developed a skill-set for working with the public. I am a fast learner, I never shy away from any task. I have learned payroll and quickbooks, I am organized, and a dependable employee. I have worked closely with children of all ages and have a passion for helping children strive for the best version of themselves.

I took inventory, entered data and managed food safety (following state and federal guidelines). My position in the cafeteria was removed and I worked at a teacher aid in the Kindergarten classroom.
In my role as a Kindergarten Teachers Aid I assisted the lead teacher and helped keep the classroom running smoothly. Some of my duties included helping set up and clean up activities (art projects, learning centers, etc.), preparing materials (cutting paper, organizing supplies, copying worksheets), working with small groups or individual students on basic skills (letters, numbers, colors), and reinforcing lessons introduced by the teacher. I supervised lunches and recess times for my class as well as multiple other grades as well. I also worked in the SAFE program for afterschool supervision as a floater aid, which meant I worked with all age groups and filled in wherever I was needed.

Veterinary Assistant
5 Years 10 Months
Mt. Shasta Animal Hospital | 10.2013 - 08.2019
At the animal hospital, I perform many tasks in the reception area as well as the hospital in general. Up front, I answer phones, schedule appointments, process payments, and answer many questions for pet owners as they pick up and drop off their loved ones. We have a very organized filing system and I must retrieve and replace charts carefully. This usually entails delicate management of the pet owners as well; the moods often range from sad to irate, and I have learned the nuances of helping to calm and reassure clients.
For general patient care, I often assist doctors with surgeries by holding animals, trimming nails (which is routinely done under anesthesia), and drawing blood. Before and after surgery, I am expected to sterilize equipment and clean the rooms. I often make microscope slides from samples for the Doctor’s to review. I also take and prepare samples which are picked up regularly and processed at a laboratory. I help the doctors by taking x-rays. I can prepare mediation doses for the Veterinarian’s to administer to patients.
I am often tasked with the responsibility of going in on the weekend when the hospital is closed to care for the animals. This includes routine feeding and cleaning duties, and ensuring comfort and well-being of the animals. I monitor them for any additional care that may be needed.
Aside from the most technical aspects of this position, I am no stranger to the general care of the animals and the hospital! We have extensive daily cleaning duties such as laundry and cleaning every room. We must maintain cleanliness of the kennels. Furthermore, we enjoy meeting and spending time with all of the pets. We give them food and water, care for them as medically necessary, and we truly become enveloped in their lives. We are often all deeply affected by the triumphs and tragedies that go along with caring for the animals that come through.
