  • Assists the Detachment Commander to allocate resources, monitor, evaluate and report on results and adjust direction to ensure efficient, effective and consistent service delivery to meet OPP goals, objectives and plans.
  • Manages, leads, motivates, coaches and empowers the staff complement of generalist and specialist constables through a number of platoon and regional unit leaders. Responsible for oversight of performance management process within the Detachment inclusive of performance standards, training, counseling, disciplinary actions, as well as primary supervisory responsibility of staff complement of sergeants.
  • Prepares, analyses and makes recommendations on matters related to budget allocation and expenditures, equipment and service procurement, staffing issues, office/building maintenance and staff training, as requested by the Detachment Commander and members of the management team. Researches, develops and supports business planning submissions to provide for program development and service delivery. Coordination, development and report back on the business planning submission as requested by the Detachment Commander.
  • Acts as Incident Commander at major incidents. Oversees the management of local criminal, traffic and other investigations and emergency and crises situations. Cooperates in and coordinates detachment resources to support local, regional and corporate level cases, incidents and initiatives.
  • Liaises, as a member of the command team, with municipal councils, police services boards, community policing committees, First Nations councils, other police services and government agencies in the development of detachment business plans, and other priorities, establishes and manages effective partnerships, reports on the status of activities and results against plans and promotes the OPP locally.
  • Manages attendance, employment accommodation, return to work WSI and workplace environment issues in compliance with the Human Rights Code, the Illness Injury and Employee Accommodation Program, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Prevention Policy.
