  • Conduct shop surveillance and audits to various fabrication facilities throughout the province that were fabricating for the Voisey's Bay VBME project.
  • Ensure contractors were fabricating to site specs/standards outlined by VALE and applicable welding codes.
  • Perform checks and inspections on pipe spools, supports, and structural components being fabricated.
  • Daily use of smart completions to create and close punches where applicable including NCR and QSR punches. I would ensure Asset Tags were created and QVD's assigned to appropriate subsystems and piping packs. I would sign off QVD's and close them out when piping systems were tested.
  • Ensure that all NDE has been performed as per spec, percentages met, and logs are maintained and accurate, welders were certified.
  • Conduct regular review and signoff of contractor's fabrication, turnover books/MRB's, CWP's, ITP's shop drawings, as builds, GA's, P&ID's, ISO's, Dossier's, QVD's (check sheets), RFI's, ECN's and progress reports.
  • Review, approve and release all test packs and meet with services NL to witness all registered and non-registered testing performed by the contractor on various piping systems. Eventually I was approved as an Owners inspector and could witness registered testing in the absence of SNL (gov agency).
  • Daily completion of reports for submittal to the client based on findings of site visits and reviews. This would include my Shop Visit Report, QSR's and NCR's. I would report the status of fabrication, status of their turnover binders to myself, Issues or concerns found, etc.

  • While working at Voisey's Bay (Rothlochston) I was on a 2-week rotation schedule and would work on this project with SDP when I was off shift.
  • My Contracts included surveillance of various local fabrication shops and MRB/FRB/Dossier review for turnover of two rebar fabrication facilities for Husky and SDP fabricating for the west white Rose project and three fabrication facilities building various components for the project.
