Tasha Hartfield

I have always been interested in plants. For my grade 5 end of year project, I planted a bee garden in my backyard and have maintained it ever since. During the process of making this garden, I did lots of research on plants that bees like and plants that can survive in the conditions in my yard. Over the past year, I have become interested in indoor plants and have been quite successful in taking care of them, propagating them and helping them thrive. On weekends, one of my favorite things to do is to go shopping for new plants to add to my extensive collection. At school, I am a strong student and I can balance my academics, time with friends and physical activity; I'm very interesting in rock climbing and weight lifting. I have been enjoying working causally at a medical office for the past nine months, but I am looking forward to finding a job that aligns more with my passion for gardening and plants.

- I got an IB award in school for being caring, and another on the next year for being knowlegable

- I had an art piece selected for an art exhibition last year

- I've done numerous overnight backpacking trips on Vancouver island, including summitting Mount Albert Edward and section of the Juan de Fuca trail
