My exposure to diverse healthcare settings has enriched my understanding of patient care. Being both a patient and a student nurse in the hospital environment has provided me with a profound experience.
4th Year (Year-Long Placement) Toronto Western Hospital
1st Semester: 5B Fell Neurology/Neurosurgery
- cared for epileptic patients, seizure management, brain tumor patients
2nd Semester: 6AB Fell Neurovascular Level 2 ICU
- cared for patients with pituitary tumors, EVDs, CSF leaks, JP drains, stroke patients, epileptic patients
3rd Year
1st semester: Oak Valley Health: Markham Stouffville Hospital: Interventional Radiology
- assisted on procedures such as embolizations, insertion of PICC lines, pre and post op care, lung and kidney biopsy's.
2nd Semester: TAIBU Community Health Care Center
- worked with underprivileged women to help achieve a certificate and knowledge to run a day care
2nd Year (Year-Long Placement) Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital:
1st semester: Medicine Ward
- cared for patients during the pandemic, learned about navigating the struggles of COVID 19
2nd semester: Stroke Ward
- provided care for patients with stroke
- ambulation, vital signs, recognizing symptoms
