I am an experienced public servant in corrections and a criminal justice professional with a proven track record in case management, leadership, rehabilitation, and offender reintegration. Over the past decade, I’ve worked in both institutional and community corrections across Alberta—supporting offender rehabilitation, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating safe community release planning. My roles as a Parole Officer and Acting Manager, Assessment & Intervention have allowed me to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex offender case files, and contribute to operational decisions with public safety as a central focus.
I am adept at building trusting relationships with parolees to foster meaningful rehabilitation and reintegration, and I approach every interaction with accountability and empathy. I’m known for reliability, adaptability, and strong teamwork in fast-paced, dynamic environments. I bring expert-level knowledge in risk assessment, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed practices—ensuring my work upholds both professional standards and human dignity. Guided by a deep respect for the communities I serve and a commitment to lifelong learning, I strive to make meaningful contributions to public service and correctional practice with care, consistency, and purpose.
In my role as an Institutional Parole Officer managing offender case files within the institution, I was responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of correctional planning. This included conducting comprehensive assessments, updating correctional plans based on evolving risks and needs, and preparing detailed reports for senior decision-making bodies such as the Parole Board of Canada. I ensured every aspect of case management adhered to the Corrections and Conditional Release Act (CCRA), CSC policy, and privacy legislation. I routinely liaised with legal authorities, interdisciplinary teams, and external agencies to inform and support risk-based decisions. My work required precision, sound judgment, and a thorough grasp of institutional processes—all while keeping public safety, accountability, and reintegration outcomes at the forefront.
During my time with the Calgary Parole Office, I provided both administrative and client-facing support for post-release supervision strategies. I conducted intake interviews with individuals transitioning from federal custody to the community, guiding them through their release conditions and connecting them to essential supports such as housing, health services, and employment resources. I explained monitoring expectations and set a foundation for successful reintegration through clear, collaborative planning.
I regularly reviewed applications for temporary privileges, such as weekend leaves, conducting risk assessments and making informed recommendations in partnership with institutional and community stakeholders. I also maintained consistent communication with Community Residential Facilities (CRFs), supporting the development and adjustment of supervision plans to reflect individual needs and uphold public safety.
Although the assignment was short-term, it provided valuable insight into community corrections and deepened my commitment to supporting safe, coordinated transitions for individuals returning to society.
In my role as Acting Manager, Assessment & Intervention (MAI) at Grande Cache Institution, I was responsible for overseeing institutional case management operations and administering national case management standards. I supervised Parole Officers (WP-04) and administrative staff (CR-04), conducted staff development and training, and led performance oversight across a multidisciplinary team. I chaired Correctional Intervention Boards, facilitated case planning discussions, and supported the development of offender intervention strategies in collaboration with Parole Officers, internal departments, and external partners.
I coordinated all incoming and outgoing offender transfers, ensuring that individual programming, security, cultural, linguistic, and mental health needs could be met. This task required timely collaboration with the Correctional Manager of Operations (CMO), mental health services, Indigenous Liaison Officers, and provincial institutions. I also led daily HR activities including leave approvals, conflict resolution, grievances, staffing actions, and performance evaluations.
In addition, I maintained operational oversight of internal workflows—ensuring performance indicators, security classification timelines, and legislative deadlines were consistently met. I briefed senior management regularly, enforced policy compliance, and carried out quality assurance reviews of reports submitted to the Parole Board of Canada and regional leadership. My role required sound judgment, strategic planning, and the ability to lead confidently across operational, human resource, and public safety priorities.
As a Correctional Officer (I & II) I supported both the security and rehabilitative aspects of offender management in a federal correctional setting. Beyond day-to-day supervision, I worked closely with case management teams and directly with offenders to support reintegration planning and individual progress. I conducted risk assessments for Private Family Visits, Escorted Temporary Absences, and Perimeter Security Clearances, ensuring a balanced approach between public safety and reintegration goals.
I contributed to offender interviews, intervention planning, and conflict resolution—prioritizing communication and situational awareness over the use of force. I viewed every interaction as an opportunity to model respect, reinforce accountability, and promote pro-social behavior.
Operationally, I facilitated offender movement, reviewed security documentation, and maintained cross-shift briefings to support institutional continuity. I also participated in incident response planning, cross-unit collaboration, and administrative processing—ensuring institutional safety, policy compliance, and transparent reporting at all times.
What Drives Me I’m passionate about helping people move forward My work in corrections has taught me that even in the most structured environments, meaningful change is possible—and I’ve dedicated my career to balancing public safety with rehabilitation I thrive in roles where leadership, empathy, and strategy come together to support individuals through transition while strengthening the communities around them Whether I’m guiding a parole plan, leading a team, or partnering with justice and social service agencies, I show up with integrity, respect, and purpose
