Starting at a young age I knew I wanted to do something that got me outdoors and in the beautiful environment around me. I also knew I wanted to make a difference in the community around me and help others anyway I could.
I took the step and went to school for Social Service Work with the idea in mind I can use my life skills and learned education to better myself and begin the journey of working towards working for an organization that supported others and got me outside.
My interest specifically in conservation was brought to me in elementary school on our yearly field trip to Guelph Lake Nature Centre. Learning how much impact and we have on the environment and what is done in our local community that people do to harm it really was offensive to me and I knew then Conservation Officers make an impact on reducing the harm that is done to the environment.
When I think about what it means to be a Conservation Officer I think of it more than just "an officer". The role of a conservation officer is to be an educator and teach the local community what it means and looks like to be a environmentalist. How to take care of the environment properly.
Growing up I never spent more than a couple days without being in the forest or bodies of water close to home. Always exploring and admiring the surroundings. My love for environment and the outdoors spans to today.
I believe I would make a great candidate because I genuinely care about both people and the environment. My background in social service work has taught me how to connect with others, listen, and educate in a meaningful way. On top of that, my lifelong love for nature and being outdoors drives me to protect it. I’m passionate, hardworking, and ready to make a real difference in the community and the environment around me.
