  • Prepare maintenance and compliance reports for executive summaries and presentations.
  • Work with IMIT staff to recommend hardware and software adjustments and resolve design flaws.
  • Develop and update tracking spreadsheets.
  • Designed plans to improve operations and suggested changes to systems for overall organization.
  • As an Operations Analyst, Medical Device Reprocessing provides computer technical support services related to the Sterile Processing Management System (SPMS) and corresponding applications across Fraser Health.
  • Provides operations and technical support related to the Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) and Sterile Processing Management System (SPMS) from implementation through to system maintenance, in collaboration with the regional Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) management team. Utilizes the computerized SPMS application and other related software programs.
  • Responds to system, communications and user problems; investigates problems and takes corrective action using site or vendor provided utilities according to established procedures; refers problems as required.
  • Tests the systems; coordinates software implementation according to established procedures or vendor provided instructions.
  • Collaborates and works with a variety of contacts to ensure effective technical support including system users, employees, MDR management, Operating Room, Surgical and Health Information Systems, IMIT, Project Managers, vendor application system specialists, clinical departments, and others as required.
  • Maintains and changes system profiles; updates/upgrades software and investigates and resolves errors at the individual user level, site level, regional level, and in partnership with Fraser Health helpdesk.
  • Provides training to users on the software systems standard operating procedures, creates Standard Operating Procedures and develops/prepares instructional materials; works in collaboration with regional quality and MDR management.
  • Tests the regional operations applications for user and site compliance, data/application integrity, and report accuracy by performing random and scheduled system audits.
  • Reports, monitors, and tracks, user errors/issues, application errors/issues, and application integrity concerns. Investigates errors/issues and provides recommendations on error/issue resolves; implements corrections to and assists users with errors/issues in collaboration with MDR management and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Compiles a variety of test and audit reports aimed at ensuring MDR quality and safety standards and provides reports to MDR management or appropriate personnel; works with MDR management and Fraser Health Quality staff to develop system metrics that summarize quality and safety measurements.
  • Establishes and maintains procedures for processing and distributing data; provides input into and recommends development of system applications and process standards that are aligned with established standards and policies.

  • Supervises Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians and other designated staff and coordinates staff orientation to the Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) Department. Performs timekeeping functions utilizing a computerized Payroll System, calls in and allocates relief staff to fill temporary staffing requirements, maintaining records and filing
  • Supervises Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians and other designated staff by performing duties such as scheduling and coordinating work assignments, evaluating employee performance in consultation with the Leader and determining related training and orientation requirements.
  • Coordinates staff orientation to the MDR Department by performing duties such as identifying educational needs, recommending training and in-services and providing regular in-services and individual project assignments.
  • Performs timekeeping functions for the department by performing duties such as maintaining time sheets and attendance records, gathering hours worked, coding hours into computerized payroll system and forwarding to payroll upon approval. Reviews verification reports, identifies discrepancies and answers staff inquiries.
  • Calls in and allocates relief staff to fill temporary staffing requirements as required by performing duties such as utilizing a predetermined list, contacting appropriate staff to determine whether vacancy can be filled and forwarding concerns/issues to the Leader as required.
  • Participates in the development and evaluation of department policies and standards by performing duties such as attending meetings and providing input to the Leader as requested. Advises staff on current safety practices and procedures and forwards discrepancies/concerns to the Leader as required.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots and monitors problem areas on issues related to equipment break down, instrument problems and procedural changes. Ensures preventative maintenance by scheduling maintenance appropriately, completing maintenance requisitions and forwarding for repair.
  • Participates in the Quality Management Program by performing duties such as checking standards and documenting results such as biological testing of sterilizers. Maintains sterilization records in accordance with established policies and standards.
  • Collects statistical information according to established procedures and processes appropriately.
  • Participates in departmental/interdepartmental meetings and in-services by performing duties such as attending meetings and providing input as requested.

  • These responsibilities have given me immense understanding of MDR operations in coordination with operating room and other clinical departments
  • Some of these projects and ongoing initiatives include:
  • Representing MDR at Culture Improvement Initiatives in Surgery - July 10th & 11th 2013 at conference in Victoria B.C
  • Endoscopy upgrade and implementation at JPOCSC Surgical Ambulatory in year 2019 and 2020
  • Coordinating, implementing and overseeing the MDR quality management projects during COVID19.
