Additional Leadership Experience

  • Act as a mentor for new social workers, providing training and assisting workers in understanding family based practices.
  • Children’s Aid representative on a Child Abuse Prevention Team (CAPT). Coordinated “Raise Your Voice” campaign against child abuse event in October 2011.
  • Children’s Aid representative on a Truancy Committee in association with the Avon Maitland District School Board. Involvement in regular case conferences/consultation meetings with committee to discuss truancy in Perth County and to develop interventions for specific students with chronic truancy/absenteeism issues.
  • Maintain liaison within internal teams, administrative services, and outside agencies. Act as an advocate for fellow co-workers, delegate coverage and assistance when needed.
  • Facilitator of Family Enhancement Parenting Support Group, which addresses issues of resolving parent-teen conflict. Coordinate guest speakers, maintain group documentation, prepare resources, and present to the group.
  • Facilitator of “Living Room Learning” Group for foster parent support. Coordinate speakers, topics for discussion, and provide assistance to foster parents. Discussion of policies and practices associated with standards related to fostering.
