RCMP Crime Prevention Volunteer – Mission, BC
Volunteer | 4 hours per week
-Patrol assigned areas to deter criminal activity and increase community safety.
-Observe, assess, and report suspicious behaviour to RCMP.
-During my shift we do varies tasks, including Speed Watch, Cell Watch, and running plates for stolen vehicles and general patrols.
-Support RCMP operations by providing situational awareness and community intelligence.
-Represent the RCMP at public events and community outreach programs, we do a number of events each year.
Demonstrated reliability, situational awareness, and professionalism through 200+ volunteer hours.

• My responsibilities include climbing, pruning, felling, cabling/bracing, and complete tree removals in both residential and commercial settings. I supervise and coordinate daily crew operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and high-quality results. Additionally, I provide hands-on training and mentorship to crew members and collaborate with other teams. The role also involved direct interaction with clients, requiring strong communication and negotiation skills to understand and meet their specific tree care needs. ensure customer satisfaction is essential in this job. with 14 years of experience I lead by example in both fieldwork and leadership. I left bartlett for 2 years when my visa expired in march 2020.

• After leaving Bartlett due to my visa expiring, a friend recommended me to a company on the island. They sponsored me immediately, allowing me to continue working in the arboriculture field. During my time there, I significantly advanced my arborist skills, gaining experience in all aspects of tree work. The team included many inexperienced workers, so I was given the responsibility of training and supervising them. Due to my skill level, I was regularly assigned the more complex and demanding jobs.

• I worked in a fast-paced commercial environment focused on tree removal and site clearance for construction projects. This role required efficiency, precision, and adaptability in high-pressure settings. During my time with the company, I progressed into a climbing arborist role, gaining extensive hands-on experience in all aspects of tree work, including removals, pruning, and the operation of various machinery and equipment. The job involved frequent collaboration with multiple contractors and site teams, which significantly strengthened my teamwork and communication skills. I also developed strong problem-solving abilities, often needing to assess complex situations on site and implement safe, effective solutions in real time.

I self contracted to this company mon-fri for a few months before it closed due to the owner's retirement. During this time, I further developed my climbing skills, working mainly on residential sites such as private gardens. The role involved tree removals, pruning, and hedge cutting, with a strong focus on meeting clients’ needs and delivering work to a high standard. This experience enhanced my communication skills and adaptability in client-facing environments.

• I joined this small company just two weeks after arriving in New Zealand, which pushed me to quickly adapt, become independent, and take on greater responsibility. My role covered all aspects of tree work, including removals, pruning, and hedge cutting. This period involved a high volume of climbing, allowing me to advance my skills while working with a wide range of tree species that were very different from those in the UK, giving me valuable international, hands-on experience.

• This was my first role after college and acted as a strong stepping stone into the arboriculture industry. The company specialised in commercial, residential, and power-line tree work, where I quickly developed advanced climbing skills and was recognised as one of the stronger climbers despite being new to the field. Working within large crews helped me build clear communication, teamwork, and strong safety awareness.

• I performed jobs such as filling sawdust logs in bags, sealing them and stacking them on pallets. I worked at this factory while on my level 2 arb course at college.

• This was a year ten school internship for 2 weeks, at the end of the internship I was rewarded with a summer job for my effort.
