Volunteering at the Centre for Skills Development in Burlington, I have supported newcomers to Canada by enhancing their computer skills and helping them integrate into a new country. This experience has opened my eyes to the need for equity, diversity, and inclusion. There are many barriers that marginalized communities face, starting with language and cultural differences, all the way to systemic inequalities. These experiences have given me a greater awareness of how inequalities impact each individual. I am thrilled to learn how to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported, regardless of their background or circumstances.
