Work History

Gr. 7 Teacher.

St. Joseph's Parish.
09.2023 - Current
  • Teaching grade 7 level children's catechism for the length of a regular school year.
  • I developed strong relationships with the students and their parents, as well as my colleagues from other grades.
  • I made sure every student felt comfortable in the learning environment, using the experience I have as I am still a high school student myself.
  • Managed classroom behavior by establishing clear expectations, modeling appropriate conduct, and consistently enforcing established rules and consequences.
  • I helped each student learn through their own particular styles; for example, one student was very artistically inclined, so I included multiple art projects in the curriculum.

Book Curator

Notre Dame Regional Secondary School
01.2023 - Current
  • I Helped to lead and organize potential book titles for my school's book club.
  • I made sure to listen to everybody's suggestions, and collaborated with my fellow curators to ensure we could decide on a book we would all enjoy.
  • While reading, I would prepare relevant questions to ask about the book that would make our members think about it in different ways. For example, if we were reading historical fiction, I would ask if the book made them think about historical events in ways they hadn't before.

Babysitter

4 Houses In My Neighbourhood
06.2023 - 09.2023
  • I volunteered with other teens in my neighbourhood to lead summer activities for children aged 4-12, such as reading books, playing games and helping them have fun together. If any conflicts between children arose, I would actively listen to the children's concerns, and help them resolve it in a peaceful manner. If there were any issues I was concerned about, I would make sure to communicate them with the parents I worked for.

Social Justice Club Volunteer

Agape/St. Francis Of Assisi Elementary School.
09.2019 - 03.2020
  • I Helped the Agape Ministry with gathering and distributing candy to homeless and addicted women living in the downtown east side of Vancouver.
  • These experiences really helped me to empathize with those less fortunate, and made me want to continue helping in any way I could, even if it was just handing out candy.
