Experience with initial ED admissions, including history and physical exams, diagnostic test ordering, and transitioning care from the emergency department.

Managing and coordinating comprehensive care for hospitalized patients including developing treatment plans, ordering/interpreting diagnostic tests and prescribing medications.

Managing cross-coverage for inpatient services, effectively responding to urgent care needs and overnight clinical changes. Responding to RRT for patients in regular floor, telemetry and step down units.

• Fulfilling the duties of ACGME Internal Medicine residency. Locations include: Northwest Texas Hospital which is a private 400 bed hospital and a level 1 trauma center in addition to Thomas E Creek VA medical Center which maintains 69 acute care beds and 120 bed skilled nursing care unit. Together these two hospitals cover 26 counties in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado.

• I worked directly under the supervision of Dr. Anjay Rastogi and my responsibilities included inpatient rounding with Dr.Rastogi in the Dialysis unit of Davita Century City and continuous follow-up with patients and other staff members to ensure that orders are being processed in a timely manner. I also attended clinic visits with Dr. Rastogi, take new patients’ medical histories, review incoming lab results, and bring to his immediate attention any abnormal results. Additionally, I used the UCLA EPIC EMR system for documentation and to pend new patients' orders (Including: new and refill medication orders, lab orders, imaging orders, referrals).

• 4 weeks of observer experience with supervised patient contact. During that time, I had the opportunity to attend daily inpatient rounds and outpatient clinic. I also had the opportunity to discuss differential diagnosis, assessment and treatment plan with Dr. K. Venkataraman and discuss different clinical topics. I also had the chance to be the medical translator on several occasions.

• 6 months of Internal Medicine Observership with Dr. Wafaa Alrashid who is a teaching faculty at Huntington Memorial Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program. I had the opportunity to shadow Dr. Alrashid in her outpatient clinic and observe how she interacts with patients during history taking and physical examination and how she enters the patient notes. I also had the chance to discuss differential diagnosis, assessment and treatment plan with Dr. Alrashid and discuss different clinical topics.

• 12 Months of Clinical Observation. I had the opportunity to observe Dr Tekkelian in her outpatient clinic. I was able to do history taking and case presentation and helped in taking vital signs. I observed how the physician enters the patient notes. I also had the chance to discuss differential diagnosis, assessment, and treatment plan with Dr. Tekkelian, and discuss different clinical topics.

• Dr. Sadiq Mandilawi clinic was my first encounter with the medical field in the United States. I had the opportunity to observe Dr. Mandilawi in his outpatient clinic and observe patients with various endocrine and general medical conditions. I was able to do history taking and case presentation and I helped the physician in documenting patient notes. I also had the chance to discuss differential diagnosis, assessment and treatment plan with Dr. Mandilawi, and discuss different clinical topics.

• 12 months of Internship rotations which included: 3 months in Internal Medicine, 3 months in General Surgery, 2 months in Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2 months in Pediatrics, 1 month in Emergency Medicine and 1 month in Anesthesia. My duties included: history taking, performing physical examination, writing patient notes, outlining management plan, case presentation and following up patients. During these rotations I attended daily morning reports, medical lectures and grand rounds and took overnight calls.
