Work History

Application Support Analyst 1

Pattison Food Group
11.2023 - Current
  • Troubleshooting, resolving, documenting production incidents, and identifying recurring problems for areas of improvement to help develop a plan to implement the resolution as appropriate
  • At Pattison Food Group, I had the opportunity to learn and support the transition from legacy warehouse operations software to the new Blue Yonder applications, as well as the stabilization process after the project went live. Rapid change helped me push myself to acclimatize myself with the architecture quickly.
  • Roughly 90 percent of our applications are written in java especially Store and warehouse inventory system management. Typical day involves communicating with the users, understand their work process and interaction with the application, replicate the problem they have encountered, investigate the splunk logs for the past data that they have sent us , gather the API calls to the backend, understand service, repositories, entities in relation to the calls and reproduce the bug. The resolution involves learning the business process that have built in conjunction with the inventory management department and assist development team to deploy change controls on serviceNow to deploy the fix.
  • Learning about system architecture is absolutely necessary to troubleshoot and understand the flow of data. I have used tools like mermaid and draw.io to built components of each applications and shared that with the support team for future reference. Rapid development and outdated documentation for legacy applications required me to adopt this approach.
  • In 6 months time after joining my new role, i was able to build a basic troubleshooting approach that helped me provide value to the support team. Our team of 6 supports around 30,000 employees of pattisonfoodgroup and i enjoyed steep learning curve.
  • In one year of application support, i have been able to train the new hire and help them over every step by sharing my knowledge and guiding to the right source of information. This is the achievement i am most proud of and i was recognized by my team lead as well.
  • My development and management team is extremely accommodating when it comes to new issues we encounter. i have been encouraged to develop solutions to deploy which helped me learn configurations of application and testing environment in order to make them more efficient.
  • My company uses third party applications from Blue Yonder and Dematic based in UK which helped me learn the integration process that we have deployed on cloud platforms like IISC and SAP ETL. Understanding the taskflow was required to troubleshoot the problems encountered by users. I used udemy courses to learn about IISC and deployed the agents on my home server.
  • I actively maintain my home proxmox server to learn about new technologies be it from jboss application server, IISC, database systems. I work with Posgresql at home to build personal projects with java and c++ which are available on github profile.
  • I have comprehensively used Microsoft free teer to learn about exchange oulook and entra identity management because it helped me understand the identity management and email integration of java applications. Pattisonfoodgroup uses hybrid infrastructure so i adopted this approach.
  • I would like to give a recent example of troubleshooting where my generalist approach of learning java and Microsoft architecture to resolve this issue. One of our sev 1 system critical java application receives emails from outside and inside the network with important documents from the users. When they stopped uploading, i was able to track back the data flow from app to one of our exchange server by finding out the key components which documents were processing through. Eliminating the application flow which was working fine, i was able to reach the source of the issue which was routing misconfigurations between application server and in house exchange server.
  • Pattisonfood is a 100 year old company and legacy applications which are built in php, colfusion CFML requires us to jump ahead with blank state but this has been an enjoyable challenge. I have been able to work with new applications when pattisonfood integrates new company under the banner and we learn to support them.
  • Redhat Linux OS is our bread and butter and i was able to complete RHSA certification to get basic understand about the platform which was prerequisites of my current role.
  • Proficiency in Plslql and MsSql is core part of my current role and continuous improving my understanding of it's use cases has helped me provide efficient service to data, finance, inventory teams with their varied requirements.
  • I have 6 years of experience in servicenow and able to create incident and task dashboards to help my team keep track of performance and point out key challenges in incident response. Currently i am familiarizing myself with jira to assist development team.
  • My communication skills have helped me to work with different IT and business teams to form a comprehensive understanding of the issues and this has helped me a lot . i would like to keep developing this and consider it key for success.
