Dismantling vehicles using hoist and hand tools to gain access to and from defective parts.
• Carrying out preventive maintenance services and inspections.
• Reassemble equipment and adjust and reline brakes, align wheel, tighten bolts.
• Examine safety devices, adjust protective guards, and loose bolts.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using electrical circuit technician and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
• Adjust equipment and repair, replace defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools and familiar with hydraulic jacks or hoists.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets specifications.
• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems including chassis, frame, cab, body and engine.
• Advice customers on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with the supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace the units.
• Complete reports to record problems and work performed.
• Test and adjust units to specifications for proper performance.
• Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools.
