• Redesigned curriculum and assessment in Chemistry and Chemistry Honours to use cycles of inquiry and phenomenon based teaching practices
• Redesigned Human Biology, Health and Sport course with maker space projects, flexible project topics and outcomes tailored to student interest and diversity
• Improved student ownership of lab assessment outcomes by constructing and publishing 3 lab rubrics adopted by multiple science courses/teachers in department
• Teamed with colleagues to design common learning activities, resources, and assessments using Understanding by Design framework
• Scaffolded student success through varied learning activities and extensive formative practice and feedback
• Promoted communication, teaming and positive classroom culture
• Created opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning and efforts

Service and Social Justice Leadership:

• Sponsored HKIS Against Human Trafficking -student-led club
• Initiated annual Life On The Margins week-long immersive student trip to live in a closed U.N. governed refugee camp on Thailand-Myanmar border
• Initiated Hong Kong’s first student-led Splash Club at HKIS in which students trained to be assistant coaches in Splash’s Learn to Swim Program serving foreign domestic helpers. Coached two hours/ week
• Volunteered alongside students at monthly Refugee Kitchen events

• Facilitated communication and decision making between administration and department of 10 teachers through weekly department meetings and monthly meetings with Leadership Team
• Structured and supported 3 year adoption of N.G.S.S./Next Generation Science Standards to implement inquiry/phenomenon based teaching and assessment
• Guided implementation of Ken O’Connor’s 15 Fixes for Broken Grades and new HKIS Assessment Policy centered around standards based grading
• Applied Adaptive Schools (28 hours training) to improve collaborative culture in science department
• Improved vertical articulation in grades 6-12 of NGSS Science and Engineering Practices, content standards and key phenomena through alignment conversations, classroom visits and Atlas Rubicon data
• Oversaw science registration for 800 students
• Served as first line of contact in disputes between students, teachers, parents and/or science colleagues

• Revamped end-of-year science awards to create ongoing celebration of student engagement, creativity, positivity, self-motivation, practical skills, and academic excellence
• Created science department's first mobile maker space carts to support project based learning with tools, upcycled and new materials
