Shawn Heer

• Respond to security emergencies, incidents and general complaints occurring at Edmonton Transit facilities or on Edmonton Transit property
• Conduct routine preventative patrols on Edmonton Transit property to ensure security and safety of patrons, promptly report any potential or actual risks or losses
• Address customer service needs by providing transit information (fares, stop locations, etc.), responding to injury reports within transit facilities, and assisting passengers requiring support
• Foster and maintain respectful relationships with Edmonton's diverse communities, acting as a positive ambassador for the City of Edmonton
• Exercise discretionary law enforcement powers as granted under federal and provincial legislation and municipal bylaws
• Collaborate with security professionals, other Peace Officer groups, and the Edmonton Police Service to enhance safety and security within the Edmonton Transit System
• Support Transit Operations with safe and efficient fare enforcement
• Collect information and evidence to support court proceedings, insurance claims, and Security and Risk Management activities. Provide testimony or evidence in court when necessary
• Prepare comprehensive letters and reports, develop and implement special events, and conduct media interviews and public presentations
• Perform other duties as required

• Providing support/directly working with NAIT’s Peace Officers and Communications Officers and external partner agencies
• Conducting routine interior/exterior patrols of NAIT property and campuses by foot, on bicycles, and patrol vehicles
• Proactively deterring criminal activity and undesirable behavior by providing high profile visibility/ presence on NAIT’s various campuses in the Edmonton region
• Responding to suspicious activity and security incident service calls
• Providing first aid or evacuation assistance in the event of an emergency
• Monitor and providing site security and access control
• Acting Sergeant for 6 months, some of those duties which included:

- Payroll, Mentoring and leading a team of Peace Officer's and Security Agents

- Completing Shift Reports, incidents, and any major events

• Conducting exterior/interior patrols of Grant MacEwan University property and campuses by foot
• Proactively deterring criminal activity and undesirable behavior by providing high profile visibility/Presence on campus
• Responding to alarms and suspicious activity and security incident service calls
• Providing first aid or evacuation assistance in the event of an emergency

• Supervising and mentoring a team of 15
• Training newly hired Asset Protection Representatives of Loblaws
• Deter, Detect and apprehend for theft and fraud within the retail locations
• Collaborate with local police service regularly
• Investigate internal investigations; compile with present evidence for purpose of court
• Participating in community events

• Ensuring the care, custody and control of all inmates
• Ensuring the safety of centre staff and the public
