Clinical Nursing Director:

• Spearhead staff education by collaborating with the anesthesia team to perform mock drills for airway safety, Malignant Hyperthermia, and Code Blue annually.
• Responsible for the update and maintenance of the Emergency Operations Plan including performing a minimum of two emergency disaster drills annually and fire extinguisher training.
• Participate in monthly Emergency Preparedness Meetings with the Central Valley Collation providing collaborative training in local emergencies.
• Participated in rolling out multiple Electronic Medical Records systems. Acting as a super user on each program including the creation of flow records in the most current EHR. Provided staff education and support.
• Responsible for the Medication Error Reduction Plan (MERP). Collaboration with contracted Pharmacy professional for monthly oversight, medication ordering, narcotic logging and maintenance.
• Responsible for the Infection Prevention Program. Collaborate with physicians in the collection of post-operative infection data. Investigate and report infection conclusions to the Medical Executive Committee and credentialing body according to CMS regulations.
• Provide annual staff education on infection prevention measures including blood-borne pathogens, hazardous chemicals, and waste.
• Perform weekly audits to gather data for infection prevention review and improvements.
• Inspect and maintain all emergency carts (Malignant Hyperthermia, Crash Carts, and Anesthesia Carts).
• Responsible for the update and maintenance of the Quality Risk Management program, including Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) reports.
• Perform a minimum of three QAPI studies per year. Studies were selected through patient surveys, complaints, complications, changes in nursing practice, and infection prevention.
• Responsible to ensure that the center practice is aligned with the regulatory requirements of CMS and AAAASF by keeping myself informed on all regulatory changes.
• Participate in annual conferences hosted by the California Ambulatory Surgery Association.
• Participate in quarterly Medical Executive meetings to present data collection on QAPI’s, Infections, Adverse Events, Peer Reviews, Credentialing, Pharmacy Updates, Total Performed Cases, Total Tissue Cases, Staffing Needs, Facility Maintenance and Updates, Medical Records Deficiencies, Radiation Safety, Policy Review and updates, and Patient Satisfaction Surveys.
• Responsible for the Peer Review program. Gather data for a minimum of three random cases, per quarter, per provider, in addition to all adverse events for evaluation. Report data to credentialing body, Medical Executive Committee, and if needed CDPH based on CMS regulations.
• Investigate all adverse events and report findings to the necessary regulatory bodies according to CMS rules and regulations (AAAASF, CDPH, California Medical Board).
• Responsible for keeping the surgery center updated on regulatory compliance ensuring survey readiness.
• Lead for all surveys, announced or unannounced, including Life Safety.
• Responsible for credential files completeness for physicians, mid-level practitioners, and staffing. This includes background checks, immunization and health requirements, education, competencies, and licensing.
• Responsible for patient medical record auditing to ensure completeness.
• Responsible for the Radiation Safety Program maintenance, update, and education. Gather monthly reports, maintain dosimeters quarterly, and provide staff with personal quarterly radiation measurements.
• Manage facility needs including new equipment, repairs, and necessary testing.
