  • Provides day to day operational leadership to the DLH nursing team to ensure children and families have access to inpatient beds as required, receive safe and quality care, and staff has manageable workloads within budgeted staffing levels.
  • Advises and provides recommendations to the Director around workforce planning, resource allocation and capital needs.
  • Named Licensing Manager for the facility.
  • Conducts individual performance planning and feedback, supports professional development and competency attainment. Collaborates with clinical educator as required.
  • Works with the Director to manage individual performance involving corrective action or discipline and/or when disability management required.
  • Supports self-scheduling and timekeeping process. Approves overtime and scheduling changes.
  • Assesses and monitors staff/patient ratios, patient assignments, workload, equipment and supplies.
  • Coordinates onboarding of new hires and participates, as required, in interviewing and hiring.
  • Initiates investigation on patient safety events, workplace injury, and patient/family complaints and concerns. Follows up and/or conducts root cause analyses in collaboration with Director, clinical nurse specialist (committee chairs) or others within quality structure.
  • Collaborates with other departments throughout the program to ensure coordinated, integrated service delivery.
  • Monitors quality metrics and operational performance indicators as required.
