Shane Van Aert

I grew up LOVING film and Television and wanted to be an actor ever since I can remember. I started acting in school plays at a young age like most elementary students. When I got to Junior High school I got into Drama Club and LOVED it. We toured through western Canada for 1 month going from town to town from my home town In Duncan BC up to Edmonton Alberta. High school didn't have a drama Club but they did have a course in Arts and Entertainment so I learned a bit on how to make some film and TV. My parents paid for Acting lessons after High school I was so excited to get my acting career going in Vancouver, but a recession hit BC hard and I was forced to move to Calgary AB for work. It was there where I met Kelly Striet, from Mode Models Modelling Agency in a mall and he gave me his card. I didn't realize what it was for at first and then when I read it I was shocked. A modelling agency and he wanted me? I did go to his Agency and he got me modelling in Fashion shows right way. I was so excited, but none of these were paying me any money, so I moved to Reel Time agency and started getting more paying jobs and was super excited for the future.

in March 2002 I found out I was going to be a father. Another exciting new adventure that I was all to happy to do. Everything was going awesome in both aspects of my life. A few months went by and my agent even informed me that Ford modelling agency out of Toronto wanted to represent me and send me to Milan for modelling, you can imagine how excited I was to go. I told them I was expecting my first son and after he was born I would let them know and then fly out and do what ever they needed me to do. Well, when I held that little baby in my arms for the first time, I couldn't stand the thought of being on the other side of the panet and not watching him grow up and coach him in sports and teach him math and be there for his first steps and everything along the way. So I called them back and said I'm sorry I cant go. I still did some modelling and small acting roles but I devoted my life to my family. And now both of my boys are full grown and I've had a life changing moment myself that stopped me from my career. So I am here today to ask you to help fulfill this life long dream I've had of becoming an actor. I am willing to do what ever it takes all over again, more acting classes, starting from scratch and working my way up.
