Two decades experience in leadership roles in health, safety, security, and environment, engineering, maintenance, and operations management, strategic and business planning, contracting & negotiations, project engineering and management in matured onshore, shallow offshore, and deep-water assets.

In the last fifteen years, held several key supervisory and managerial positions at ExxonMobil rising to become a core member of Upstream Nigeria leadership team as the Maintenance Manager for the affiliate’s entire operations. With leadership style that is anchored high ethical and professional conduct, trust, integrity, inclusion, transparency, commitment, and hands-on, I have consistently inspired and motivated teams to deliver on commitments to shareholders with a strong focus on protecting people, assets and the environment.

Led a high-profile recovery effort after a major event in December of 2021 that resulted in the shutdown of the entire ExxonMobil shallow offshore operations (~300KBD) in Nigeria. This required several innovative approaches and excellent coordination of a large pool of resources both within and abroad. Efforts resulted in facility startup a month ahead of schedule.

Maintenance Manager

  • As Maintenance Manager for ExxonMobil operations in Nigeria, responsible for affiliate’s maintenance organization with staff strength of 6 managers, 10 superintendents, 20 supervisors and 600+ workshop, roving, and field based personnel, and annual budget of over $400M USD
  • The affiliate is in a joint venture relationship with National Oil Company and operates two onshore crude and NGL processing facilities, 300+ production and satellite platforms, an FSO and two FPSO with a combined daily oil production of >450KBD, ~30KBD of NGL, and >500MSCF of gas
  • Implemented health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols for all Maintenance organization personnel for faithful compliance with standards
  • Performed people management by ensuring allocation of appropriate resources, proper workflow management, commitment of staff to achievement of objectives and targets

Maintenance organization comprises of six groups: Turbo-machinery, Instrument, Controls & Electrical; Mechanical and Heavy Equipment; Maintenance Planning & Programmatic Inspection; Contract Planning; Field Maintenance Services, Startup and Shutdown. Groups key functions includes:

  • Stewardship of multi-year long-term service agreement (LTSA) contracts with key machinery OEMs (Solar, GE, Siemens, CAT) worth >$500M USD. Team include 40+ field service reps (FSRs) and 3 dedicated fleet managers
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance, overhaul and repair of 80+ Siemens/Royce Rolls, GE, and Solar gas compressors, power turbines, power generators – Upstream Nigeria has largest fleet of installed Top-Tier Machinery in entire ExxonMobil organization (Siemens/Royce Rolls-RB211, Siemens-SGT600, GE-LM2500/LM2500+, GE-Frame 5, ABB- GT11LA, Solar-Taurus 60/70, Solar-Centaur 40/50, CAT G399)
  • Provision of remote and onsite troubleshooting and technical support to field operations teams
  • Created and implemented maintenance program to optimize operational efficiency and reduce downtime
  • Condition monitoring of rotating equipment - vibration survey, oil sampling for predictive and corrective maintenance
  • Materials management - critical spares, special tools, crash plan, preservation program

  • Responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance planning & scheduling management, work orders cost tracking, stewardship of critical PM exception process, materials management, equipment strategy management, food safety program, third party personnel security background checks
  • Pipeline pigging, topside/subsea inspections, and cathodic protection programs
  • Intelligent inspections - caliper, ultrasonic testing, magnetic flux leakage.
  • Full/close visual inspection of pressure vessels, structural members, risers; rope access, digital radiography, pulse eddy current, thermography, LRUT.
  • Drop cell cathodic protection (CP) for subsea jacket structures and risers; CP rectifier checks for induced current systems, oil and voltage checks, ground bed resistance survey
  • Utilization of mini remote operated vehicles (ROVs) for structural jackets inspection, CP protection survey of subsea pipelines
  • Underwater inspection in lieu of dry-docks, mooring chain inspection of FSO and FPSOs
  • Unmanned aerial vehicle inspection – use of drones for flares, towers and stack inspections
  • Execution of medium complexity projects such as gas lift and flow lines fabrication, construction and installation, firewater pumps, riser guards’ installation
  • Field-wide integrity repairs (piping, platform access, gratings, structural members), risk-based and full-blown coating of production and satellite platforms using dedicated construction barge
  • Manage field-wide dive support services (diving, subsea inspection, lifting, single point mooring (SPM) maintenance etc.) using dedicated dive support vessels

Asset Engineering Manager

  • Working with turbo-machinery maintenance team, implemented increased in gas generators and power turbines run hours before costly overhaul at OEM oversea workshop after thorough analysis of key data. Effort resulted in significant cost savings because of extended use of gas generator engines and power turbines, in addition to increased production due to extended equipment/machine availability.

Area Operations Manager, Central Assets

  • Upon merger of two independent assets, was made pioneer asset manager and tasked with responsibility of ensuring seamless merger of two asset teams comprising of 8 Offshore Installation Managers (OIMs), 24 supervisors and 300+ operations and maintenance personnel. Achieved primary objective 6 months ahead of schedule resulting in next assignment as Asset Engineering Manager for entire affiliate operations
