TheMovieScoop or themoviescoop.com is a project that I embarked on with two friends. This began as a simple idea and we slowly developed it into a complete site full with a high volume of internet traffic. This experience taught me:

  • How to build a brand and business
  • The full process involved in developing a website from scratch
  • How to work in a team, manage tasks, and meet deadlines and growth milestones accordingly
  • Budgeting and finance management when dealing with revenue and expenses

Projects

Aurora Hackathon — Participant
April 2019, February 2020
In this event, my group and I were tasked with developing a solution for a problem proposed by the municipality of Aurora in the form of a mobile app. This event lasted for forty hours, all taking part in the Aurora library where the results were then judged afterward by the mayor of Aurora and others well-versed in the app development field. We also were given the opportunity to listen and speak to business owners that specialized in specific technologies and learn more about our future careers paths. During these events I was expected to:

  • Create an efficient plan that prioritized vital things first and took all variables into account
  • Work efficiently under pressure and meet deadline
  • Collaborate with others in an organized matter to meet deadlines
  • Exercise proficient time management skills and adapting as the situation changed
  • Follow instructions and accomplish tasks effectively

SebasTheFish
October 2017 - May 2021
I started a YouTube channel when I was in grade seven about my favorite game. While it started as a hobby, it quickly grew into something more than that. At a very young age, I was exposed to the basics of meeting standards and working towards new goals and ambitions. It created an environment where I was forced to step out of my comfort zone and develop skills involving taxes, how to manage my time and how to critically apply feedback.
