Sathvik Tammineedi

Conducted molecular biology experiments studying PALB-2’s role in DNA strand-exchange. Purified proteins, ran DNA binding and strand-exchange assays, and maintained precise lab records. Presented data at weekly meetings and collaborated with lab members on troubleshooting protocols. This experience strengthened my technical research skills and deepened my understanding of genomic instability and cancer biology.

Helped Sunny Bay Biotech researchers with performing experiments, and learned important research techniques. In this lab, we were designing antibodies that helped with Ovarian and Breast Cancer in Women. Through this lab I learned a lot about Molecular Biology, and how to perform important and difficult research techniques, such as extracting DNA and RNA from mouse organ tissue, and from cancer tissue. I also performed competitive and sandwich ELISA experiments to test the effectiveness of antibodies.

Volunteered in the emergency department as a patient liaison. Conducted patient satisfaction interviews, addressed comfort needs, and ensured treatment rooms remained stocked and prepared. Developed interpersonal and organizational skills while learning to communicate effectively in high-stress clinical environments, directly supporting patient care teams.

Worked with SJSU Professor Dr. Zaidi, to design a DBD plasma jet for medical applications. I was the lead presenter of this researcher at both SCCUR and NCUR. I presented this work at SCCUR 2021, and NCUR 2022.

Help students in General Biology 1 and 2 with any general classwork, and homework. I am responsible for helping the students understand all the concepts that the Biology Professor will teach in class. Helping them includes grading assignments, holding office hours to help any student with any question they might have regarding a specific topic, and holding Exam review sessions before exams to help students do the best they can.
