Working at Pratt's alongside Chris Camron taught me not only how to work under pressure, but also to interact with patients and help them in whatever way I can. I loved learning how a pharmacy worked and the different types of prescriptions we use. I kept the pharmacy counters and related areas clean, neat and organized while learning how to receive medication shipments and dispose of opened medication in a safely and effectively. When starting here I had no idea how a pharmacy worked, however, by the end of the summer I had a clear understanding of how to fill and count prescriptions, as well as helping individuals with any questions they have about their medications or pain management plans.
Working at Shoppers primarily over the summer gave me more insite in patient care and allowed me to have a more independent working environment . I answered telephones and provided information about order status, store hours and pharmacy procedures. I was also able to learn about professionalism and having empathy when handling sensitive patient situations, preserving confidentiality at all times.
As my first job, working here gave me experience working with other individuals to promote teamwork and communication. I learned food safety and time management skills necessary for a high stress environment. I also maintained a clean and hygienic work place making sure to follow food safety standards.
