I own and operate a seafood restaurant and have hands-on experience managing international seafood shipments through the Port of Los Angeles and Ensenada Mexico. I am familiar with overseas containerized cargo, including refrigerated (reefer) shipments such as shrimp, and have experience coordinating deliveries and working with marine transportation timelines. My responsibilities include tracking shipments, reviewing bills of lading all cargo information and documentation, and ensuring products move efficiently from port arrival to final delivery. I have practical knowledge of cargo handling processes and understand how port operations impact timing, storage, and product quality. I am also experienced in reviewing and verifying shipping and logistics invoices, including charges related to wharfage, terminal handling, storage, and refrigerated container services in accordance with tariff guidelines. I ensure accuracy in billing by verifying cargo weight, classification, and services performed at the terminal. Additionally, I coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and co-packers, and review clearance documentation to ensure timely and compliant cargo release. This experience has given me a strong understanding of port operations, documentation, and the importance of accuracy in tariff application and cargo movement.
