I have conducted research at the intersection of immunology, infectious diseases, and chronic conditions. My work explored HIV and tuberculosis (TB) co-infections, focusing on immune dysregulation and its role in disease progression, as well as the cardiovascular complications of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), investigating mechanisms of vascular inflammation and accelerated atherosclerosis. Additionally, I studied the role of ferroptosis, a form of iron-dependent cell death, in contributing to myocardial damage and heart failure progression. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the interplay between immune-mediated diseases and chronic conditions, reinforcing my passion for internal medicine and evidence-based care.
