- Write reports and maintain accurate notes of daily activities.
- Respond to and investigate complaints. Interview complainants, offenders, and witnesses. Gather evidence, by taking photos, talking to witnesses, etc. Ensure follow-ups are done with implicated parties. Conduct inspections to ensure compliance.
- Prepare and issue Provincial Offences Notices to defendants. Prepare and issue Informations, Summons and Subpoenas to defendants and witnesses. Appear in front of Justice of the Peace or Commissioner.
- Prepare court briefs and disclosure. Assist prosecutors in preparation for court proceedings. Testify in court.
- Respond to wildlife complaints; investigate sick, rabid or dead wildlife; provide information and assist the Health Department and Agriculture Canada. Destroy animals when required. Inform and assist PAWS inspectors prior and during investigations of animal abuse and welfare.
- Assist in capture of injured wildlife and birds and provide transportation to wildlife sanctuaries if necessary.
- Conduct foot and bicycle patrols throughout the Township including nature trails, conservation areas and municipal parks.
- Control traffic and/or set up road closures at accident or fire scenes as directed by the agency in charge (Ontario Provincial Police, Fire Departments).
- Works in conjunction with the Ontario Provincial Police, Alcohol and gaming commission, and other police forces and agencies during investigations or events. Perform occasional patrol with the Ontario Provincial Police.
