Placements

  • Green Haven Shelter for Women, Barrie, ON, Fall 2022. For my Fall placement I reached out to Green Haven Shelter for Women and was able to assist one of their outreach counsellors as well as participate in their 10 week "Tools for Healing" group counselling program.
  • Georgian College, Barrie, ON, Winter 2023. For my Winter placement I collaborated with the Peer Development Co-Ordinator, peer mentors, and other students to create the "Sexual Health and Consent Program," for Georgian College that provides resources and information for all students. This involves updating our student portal website, table service on campus, and curating multiple pamphlets to hand out during our Sexual Health Week. My placement also involved creating an open and safe place where all students from any background would be able to come and ask for information. This also included creating activities and information for a diverse background of students.
  • Career and Employment Community Services, Barrie & Orillia, ON, Summer 2023. During my 420 hour placement I got the opportunity to work at both the Barrie and Orillia services to get a wider understanding and work with different clientele. During my placement I learned the modalities of therapy through client intake sessions and one-on-one counselling sessions. I learned the role of an employment consultant and how to support clients using a client-centered approach. I also helped create and develop a workout on stress and anxiety management.

Volunteer Experience

Habitat for Humanity Huronia, May 2018-Present

I Volunteer for the Casa Sip, Savour, Sing event as well as their Golf FORE Humanity event.

I have also had the opportunity to assist in building the homes for the partnered families.

Season Centre for Grieving Children June 2009- 2016

When younger, I was drawn to Season Centre because their mission spoke to what I wanted to do with my life. Being able to help and volunteer for events and fundraisers that would aid grieving children and families, some not much younger than I was at the time, left a lasting impression on me and the focus for my future.
