Rylan Cocks

I am a multidisciplinary artist with a focus in ceramics. My work challenges notions of taste, value, and advocates for the decorative arts. I am currently studying Visual Arts at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. On my school breaks, I have been running a studio in Leader, SK. I have great experience in working with people of all ages, but I have a special place in my heart for working with children. I believe that my experience and drive would make me a perfect fit for your centre!

Leader Arts Council Board Member

I served as a board member on our local Arts Council in Leader, SK. It was a great honour to give back to my community through the way of art. I attended several meetings, and was an active member on the board. Some of my past duties included designing tickets and posters, attending social media workshops, and scouting out sponsors for our many shows we were able to put on. I am grateful for the experience and responsibility I was able to gain and learn during my time on the committee. (Oct. 2019 - August 2021)

Assistant Curator

During my spring semester of this year (January 2022-April 2022), my professor at Emily Carr University, Parvin Peivandi, took me under her wing and shared her experience and skill in curating with me. I assisted her with curating our class artwork at ECU numerous times where I learned and developed skills in arrangement, cohesion, and composition. I was so grateful for this opportunity as it grew my love and understanding of art.
