  • Worked and lived in a remote field camp on Laysan Island in the Pacific Ocean for 6 months with limited supplies and only 2 other people. Laysan Island is 750 miles NW of the island of Oahu. Communication to the main island was by VHF radio and satellite phone only. No other communications were available.
  • Work composed mainly of island restoration and rehabilitation. Much of this work involved: collection of native Hawaiian seeds, growing native Hawaiian plants from seed in shade houses and transplanting these native Hawaiian plants in correct soils and zones of the island, monitoring all sections of restoration.
