I've been a bass player myself for over 20 years now, fairly recreational for the most part, but I've certainly seen quite a few gigs over the years with numerous cover bands as well as original acts, paid and unpaid. I have always leaned into the equipment more so than the playing it seems.
In a perfect world I'd spend my time in my own personal woodshop. Creating anything and everything I could.
