Policy and Procedure Development:

• The role involves managing the development of policies, procedures, work plans, and activities for fare enforcement and ensuring the security and safety of the public on Regional transit and affiliated properties.

Safety and Security Oversight:

• The position oversees the monitoring of safety and security incidents on York Region transit and affiliated properties, implementing strategies for special events and emergency situations.

Enforcement and Compliance:

• The responsibilities include managing day-to-day enforcement, application of by-laws, and enforcing pertinent legislation and regulations in a consistent and non-discriminatory manner.

Budgeting and Resource Management:

• Enforces transit by-laws and relevant laws on York Region Transit properties.
• Issues offense notices and assists in arresting violators.
• Collaborates with law enforcement agencies, provides court testimony, and supports criminal investigations.

Safety and Security Functions:

• Provides emergency response assistance, patrols, and first aid on transit properties.
• Responds to alarms, investigates incidents, and ensures passenger safety.
• Handles fraudulent activities, performs crowd control, and stores restricted weapons securely.

Liaison, Communication, and Customer Service Activities:

• Assists passengers with transit-related inquiries and concerns.
• Engages in presentations to promote safety and crime prevention programs.
• Liaises with law enforcement agencies, conducts on-the-job training, and maintains confidentiality.

Data Reporting Functions:

• Maintains a daily memo book for logging incidents and confidential information.
• Inputs daily log data into a central information system.
• Prepares various reports and collects evidence for court prosecution.

• Provided security for Ontario government buildings, its contents, parking garage and grounds, or those used by the Government of Ontario that are secured by the OPP including physical safety and security to its occupants and visitors.
• Provided security protection for various Ministry staff and facilities including the Center for Forensic Science, Macdonald Block Building and the Ministry of Finance
• Provided security services in support of the annual provincial budget process and securement of the facility during the lockdown process
