Work History

Utility Maintenance Operator III / Acting Foremen

City Of Courtenay

  • Oversee and organize work on a day-to-day basis while acting as a foreman for water, wastewater and the construction crew
  • Ensure all regulatory requirements are met with sampling and flushing during emergent repairs and weekly samples
  • Assists with water and wastewater capital projects
  • Assist in the design and implementation of the Unidirectional flushing program, sewer and storm flushing programs as well as emergency backup operations
  • Monitor trends and provide input on improvements for the SCADA system
  • Assist in creating SOPs for the water wastewater, and storm collection systems
  • Service all Backflow devices, hydrants, valves, blow-off/ flushing assemblies, PRVs, air valves and pumps within the water and wastewater system
  • Install water meters and install weekly leak detection data loggers throughout the city
  • Assist with repairing and replacing fire line chamber water meters and flushing yearly
  • Created and implemented low pressure Sanitary main flushing program
  • Maintain the storm collection system by inspecting outfalls, cleaning catch basins, sounding storm mains, and using camera work to inspect for pipe issues
  • Install and repair all underground stormwater and sanitary utilities
  • Operate dump trucks, snow plows, and loaders to assist with snow removal
  • Maintain professional customer relations while dealing with emergencies and the public
  • Respond on-call after hours to emergencies within the City and organize repairs

  • Assist in delivering and instructing live fire 1 and live fire 2 training within the Comox Training Centre for students trying to complete their NFPA 1001
