REGISTERED NURSE-CHEST UNIT

• Provide direct care to patients with pulmonary conditions, including those with COPD, pneumonia, and post-surgical recovery with a chest tube.
• Assessing and managing the chest tube and drainage system, monitoring complications, and maintaining the drainage system.
• Perform continuous cardiac monitoring, interpreting EKGs, and providing nursing interventions for abnormal heart rhythms or arrhythmias.
• Manage mechanical ventilators and assist with airway management for intubated or ventilated patients.
• Administer IV medications, diuretics, bronchodilators, and other prescribed treatments, ensuring proper dosages and patient monitoring.

• Prepares, implements, reviews, and evaluates the resident care plans and monitors summaries; monitors residents' health, notes change in condition and assesses need for referral to doctors or other service providers; maintains contact with physicians and processes and implements physician's orders.
• Administers medications or directs RPNs in administration of medications as prescribed and observes changes in condition resulting from medications; monitors the safekeeping of drugs and narcotics/controlled drugs.
• Maintains resident records in compliance with established standards and legislative requirements.
• Participates in the performance appraisal process and shares concerns with the Director of Resident Care/ or designate.
• Ability to manage and take responsibility for the home as required.
