Skilled Pipefitter with a robust background at BAE Systems Inc., adept in pipefitting and problem-solving. Demonstrates a strong commitment to worksite safety and quality standards, leveraging skills in material cutting and installation. Proven ability to adapt and excel in high-pressure environments, ensuring projects meet stringent deadlines with precision.
As a pipe fabricator at BAE Systems Submarines, I fabricate and fit high-grade material pipe (such as stainless steel 316 and 254, carbon steel 304 and CuNi 90/10 and 70/30) for all ranges of submarine pipe systems, from high pressure main steam pipes running from the nuclear reactor, to hydraulic small bore banks, to onboard sprinkler systems. Using isometric and layout drawings with acute tolerances (1- 5mm) to fabricate and fit pipes to datum’s on board the vessel, often working in conditions with little room as well as classified confined spaces (of which I have received formal training to operate in). I have experience using hand tools, compressed air and electric power tools, various grinders, polishers, mechanical saws, pillar drills, centre and draw bending equipment, threading and flaring machines, as well as soldering, brazing, TIG welding and thermal cutting.
My apprenticeship at BAE Systems Submarines equipped me with comprehensive workshop and classroom qualifications, including: certifications in health and safety - ensuring my capability to evaluate risk with risk assessments and work safely in hazardous environments. Material knowledge - understanding the application and properties of various materials used in the industry. The principles of welding and causes of defects. Reading and interpreting technical drawings and symbols used in the industry as well as creating lay out drawings. Quality control, and how it is applied in the work place. Along with workshop units including: bending and forming pipe using centre, draw and heat bending . Soldering, brazing, and TIG welding pipe and different fittings / joint types along with quality control tests. Fitting domestic and industrial pipe systems to datum’s from isometric drawings including fitting orientation and direction, using an array of fittings and joint types (such as tee pieces, elbows, flanges, reducers, valves etc.) Testing self-fabricated copper (with soldered joints) and PVC (with push fit / compression joints) systems with water to 80-100psi. Using hand tools (such as cutting tools, files, measuring equipment and angle finders) and machinery (such as band saws, angle grinders, die grinders, flaring machine, threading machine) to clean and create weld / joint preps on different pipe materials, sizes and wall thickness.
My experience has helped me to develop skills in areas such as: working to complete tasks both on my own as well as collaboratively alongside different departments, meeting strict deadlines while maintaining high quality and controlled standards with tight tolerances. Liaising with various departments and management in the hierarchy to complete tasks, adaptability and problem solving, hands-on skills and technical understanding to follow drawings, the ability to follow instructions.
As a General Laborer, I performed a variety of tasks to support the smooth operation of various construction jobs such as roofing, brick laying, dry wall and plastering, digging and laying footings, and dashing walls. My responsibilities included but were not limited to assisting with loading and unloading materials, operating machinery and equipment, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, mixing cement, and following safety protocols and procedures. Whether it was assembling products, transporting goods, or performing routine maintenance tasks, I approached each task with diligence and a commitment to quality. My time as a General Laborer equipped me with valuable skills in teamwork, performing labour intensive tasks, problem-solving, and working in adverse conditions, while also fostering a strong work ethic and attention to detail in a dynamic work environment.
During my college studies I also worked at Pizza Hut, where I served as a dedicated Pizza Chef, contributing to the efficient operation of the kitchen and ensuring high-quality food preparation in a fast paced environment. My responsibilities included preparing dough, topping pizzas with fresh ingredients, operating kitchen equipment such as ovens and pot washer, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards. I consistently upheld Pizza Hut's commitment to delivering delicious pizzas and excellent customer service, working collaboratively with team members to meet customer demands during peak hours. Through this experience, I honed my multitasking abilities, attention to detail, time management skills, and managing inventory, while also developing strong communication and teamwork capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
