Part of the Global Energy & Explosives team, responsible to support the Global Category team in the development
and implementation of Explosives strategies and management of the supply chain for the delivery of explosives and services to the mining operations required covering the Atlantic Region & Africa. This includes developing and maintaining strong relationships with the Business Units and Suppliers to oversee the supply chain and contract management of Rio Tinto’s Global / Regional contracts for explosives’ goods and services to ensure supply security, contract compliance and continuous improvement.

• Obtain internal buy-in through a recommendation to implement a Drill-to-mill initiative in partnership with Supplier and Kennecott Copper, achieving US$78M in measurable value in two years.
• Built a data-driven business case and secured long-term explosives contracts balancing cost and innovation.
• Spearheaded NOx emissions reduction initiative at Iron Ore Canada to protect social license to operate.
• Managed Force Majeure events and maintained uninterrupted operations during COVID-19 supply disruptions.

Managed daily resupply planning for raw materials, explosives, and hazardous goods through a team of planners. Directed all phases of projects from initiation to closure, ensuring alignment with objectives.

• Centralized Western, Central and Eastern Regions into a National team. Standardize and sustain all best
  practices and streamline all processes and transactions for better efficiencies and improved internal and external customer experience.
• Project manager for delivering an incredibly large and complex supply chain where shipments of commercial explosives and chemicals that may travel by air, rail and Maritime’s freight lanes or on ice road to destination.
• Worked with cross functional areas (Commercial, Production, Planning, Distribution, Logistics, Operations, Finance) to ensure delivery of project before closure. Responsible for communicating progress of project to customer, stakeholders, and executives (meetings, minutes, progress track, etc.)
• Participated in finding land to store a capacity of 1M kg of explosives meeting quantity distance and regulations to ease supply chain in the network.
