- LEVELING HOUSES/FLOORS: Upon inspection of crawlspace, our ultimate goal was to level houses/ floors that were sinking due to water buildup underground. To do this we would install a sump pump system by digging up a trench around the perimeter of the house roughly a foot deep using a small rotary hammer with a small hand shovel ensuring there was a definite slope. The sump pump was placed 2 feet below the ground and topped off with bass rock for easy water flow. We would then place a drainage pipe around the exposed trench, cover it with bass rock and top it off with black liner, leading up to the pump. The sump pump would then have another drainage pipe lead to the sewer located on the side or front of the house from the crawlspace towards the street to therefore exhale the water. Once the job was done, we would inspect the areas throughout the house that were sinking or misaligned with the floor using a fancy floor level checking instrument. Once determined, we would remove all posts underneath that area using a sawzall and supporting bottle jack, and cut up new posts with the exact measurement needed using a measuring tape and skill saw to ultimately align the floor. Finally, the house would settle with the new posts and the floor was properly aligned. New brackets were attached on the newly installed posts, using a hand drill and several screws, connecting the posts with the underground girders of the floor enforcing proper stability.
