Work History

Building Custodian/ Maintenance

Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation
Windsor, Ontario
08.2020 - Current
  • Cleaned and performed minor maintenance at multiple sites with no supervision. This includes sweeping, mopping, stripping, and waxing floors. Installing ceiling tiles, running auto scrubbers, snow removal and salting, pressure washing, fixing screens, and more.
  • Followed fire safety regulations and completed fire safety inspections. I noted deficiencies in log books, notified management, and followed up to make sure we remedied any issues that put us at risk of fire or fines. I have installed CO2 detectors and smoke detectors.
  • Performed health and safety inspections on both a monthly and semi-annual schedule, filled out reports, and worked with management to resolve concerns without blowing the budget.
  • I ordered stock for my sites and coworkers, as well as organized maintenance shops.
  • Set up COVID-19 vaccination sites for our seniors who have mobility issues.
  • Assisted contractors and project coordinators on a number of projects that include accessibility upgrades, building envelope upgrades, heating and cooling upgrades, and technology upgrades.
  • Acted as a liaison between at-risk seniors and management.
  • Conducted wellness checks on seniors, called for EMS, and assisted grieving families. I have also assisted in acquiring PSWs and acquiring other medical-related services, be they physical or psychological.
  • I created my schedule, trained staff, and have been on call for emergencies.
  • Used security cameras and computers to investigate incidents, and on occasion, provide the police with footage.
  • Written incident reports for tenants.
  • Currently, I sit on both the JHSC Committee and the SPARK Committee (a committee designed to build a better relationship between management and staff through honest dialogue and positive initiatives).
