In 2021 my wife and I enrolled our 2.5 year old son at Playmates Cooperative Preschool. As a working parent I spent at least one day a week working with the children in many different ways. I was tasked with developing creativity, art play, emotional development, motor skills, social development, associative play, language development, and a love of learning ethos. In addition I was tasked with operational duties such as snack preparation, facility organization, and maintenance. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the children, and because of the people skills I developed in my professional employment as a tour guide and as a father of two boys, I was able to connect with the children in a very positive way. I felt very comfortable with them and after many interactions I'm sure they felt comfortable with me.
Because I had such a positive and rewarding experience with the children, I would like to continue to use the skills I developed as a working parent and use them in an elementary school environment. I've also been exposed to elementary schools through my wife who has taught 4th grade for SFUSD for 20 years. I was also on the School Site Council at Sherman Elementary when my older son was a student there.
My objective is to secure a position as a para educator working in the classroom with a diverse population of students. And because of my organizational, leadership, and operational skills i would be open to other positions in the district outside of the classroom.
