• Deliver immediate psychological support following critical incidents (e.g., trauma, fatalities, accidents), offer defusing and debriefing sessions to manage acute stress and reduce emotional impact.
• Advocate for the mental well-being of paramedics, fostering an environment that prioritizes mental health, reduces stigma around seeking help, and encourages self-care practices.
• Provide follow-up support for paramedics, addressing mental health concerns such as PTSD, anxiety, and burnout, while maintaining strict confidentiality.

• I respond to emergent and non-emergent calls. I perform assessments and provide the appropriate care for the patient’s needs as per the ALS guidelines. I provide safe and secure transport. I complete the appropriate paperwork. I teach firefighters and the public CPR and defibrillation courses, as well as first aid and AED courses.

• I instruct paramedics by preparing and delivering presentations relating to the qualifications and standards of paramedicine. I ensure the maintenance of these qualifications through verbal, written and practical exams. I also participate in the certification of new hires and re-certification of current paramedics.

• I am responsible for the selection of proper strategies and the implementation of appropriate tactics in the mitigation of emergency incidents and am accountable for the safety and wellbeing of firefighters and civilians at these incidents.
• I supervise other firefighters and personnel at emergencies and in training activities.
• I organize and supervise training activities and station tasks.
• I assist with employee training, evaluations and hiring of new firefighters.
• I coordinate with allied agencies to develop and implement safe and efficient action plans according to policies and procedures.

I respond to urgent fire, motor vehicle collisions and medical calls. I assess the scene and as a team with other firefighters follow through on directions provided by our lieutenants, captains and chiefs to provide the best care possible for the property or the patients involved.
